The thing about it. The thing about it. Is that Din would be the only one who knows. The whole story, I mean. Aside from Luke. Luke would be the one to tell him. And only him. Cause everyone else is too close to the story. Who could understand? Han, Leia? Leia loves him, Luke knows, but this is the one thing they’ll never fully understand each other about.

Rightfully so, of course. For all her virtues, Leia will never forgive anyone who was involved in what became of her planet and her people, never mind the person that gripped her shoulders as she watched.

They love him, he knows. He knows this fact as deeply as he knows his own. But that’s why they couldn’t understand; it’s a horrible story, you see, but it’s also one of light — the type of light you can only see if you’re standing right in the middle of it all.

It would only hurt to tell this story. Him, Han, Leia. But Din was never in it at all. Din loves, maybe not endlessly, but some of the deepest love Luke has ever seen. Ever been a recipient of.

It’s a peculiar thing. Din, ever stoic, ever soft, doesn’t have to understand to accept. He constantly faces the unknown and turns to meet it. With Luke, that just means stepping into the future with him, or placing his gloved hand in his, or listening to the story where Luke wrote the greatest fate, quietly supportive all the while.

Zenman's Fit Male and Lifa's Male Meshes with Bloom's Feet

aka "sexyfeet." God, I hate that they're called that. Anyway, I learned how to shoe swap, so now I'm on a war against blockfeet, since despite my best efforts, I can't gaslight myself into accepting my sims not having toes. I've replaced the feet on all the foot showing meshes I have for @withlovefromsimtown's edit of Zenman's Fit Male bodyshape and her own Lifa's Male shape.

I also fixed any neck seams if they existed, since I learned how to do that too!

Based on the timing of the recording session, found in the absolutely lovely and helpful post by @biro-slay, it wasn’t a proper new life series. The recording session was less than three hours, the normal life series recording time which I believe doesn’t include set up and breaks. So, we ARE probably getting some sort of April fools life series thing. Someone pointed out it most likely wasn’t a Scott escape room since those are typically filmed individually, which leads all the more towards an April fools thing.

Kinda tempted to go through all the life series deaths and calculate what percentage of them were technically 'illegal' kills

For reference each seasons killing rules:

3rd life: Killing on red, retaliating an attack

Last life: same as above + can kill anyone on boogie (I'm not sure if it officially excludes killing red players)

Double life: same as 3rd life

Limited life: only can kill people in the colour 'above' (yellows can kills greens, reds can kill green and yellows)

I'll just be counting what grian says cause it gets pretty messy when trying to differentiate between people misremembering the rules or them coming to an agreement off camera over certain finer points of the rules.

I think the saddest part about secret life Joel is just how futile all of his actions are in that season. On a surface level i mean stuff like all of his more careful gameplay being cancelled out by a singular failed tnt trap but on a deeper level i specifically mean how that character contrasts with last life Joel. Joel is undoubtedly at his lowest point in the life series in Last Life. He goes down to red in session 2 and spends the majority of the rest of the season alone (and when he does have allies it’s only bc of a shared bloodlust). The red bloodlust completely takes over and this festers for nearly *8 sessions*. Not only that but the one time he is given a chance to restart and go back to yellow his old alliance member goes to red, leaving him alone again, and he is made boogeyman the next session. This, overall, has lasting consequences (he actually wanted to be fairly friendly at the beginning of LL, a stark contrast to how bloodthirsty he was at the beginning of DL or Lim L), and gained him a reputation that has never fully gone away. This is especially bad bc most people agree that LL was the most violent season (despite the lower kill counts in comparison to LimL) and was generally the worst and most traumatizing experience in the games for most people involved. Compare this to secret life, which everyone agrees was definitely the happiest season for Joel (or at least the most normal. His life is a tragedy no matter the season.) he has allies that (for the most part rip mumbo) stick with him until the end, he is friendlier with a larger group of people, and when he initially has to deal with the loss of some of them he has people who can ground him (bc as much as I adore the bad boys, grian was not qualified to do that). He was so hopeful that season, and was generally in a much healthier place mentally. And yet, despite how much he seemed to have grown, those 2 seasons ended so similarly for him it was almost comical. Joel engaged in a fight at the end, watched his ally get killed by scott, and is then forced into a 2v1 against Scott and another player that results in Scott taking his final life and him finishing 5th overall. I was describing both of those seasons here. After everything he did to grow, after all the improvements he had made, everything ended *exactly the same*

Making this about the bad boys for a second (because I’m me) they kinda suffer similar fates. Grian learned in the most tragic way possible that his allies were doomed to fail as long as he was with them no matter what, that this was not something that he could control by simply avoiding killing them himself. Even when he actively tries to save them (“let Tim do it he needs the time” “Joel you can kill me!”) he’ll still lose them in the end. I think this realization is also what made him stop trying to fight it, which resulted in him killing or almost killing his allies from previous seasons immediately afterwards (stabbing scar in the back and that one scene where grian kinda ominously jumps with a sword like he was about to crit and kill bigb after finding out he had 50 seconds left on his timer). It’s sorta like a way of telling the universe “fine. You win”

Similarly Jimmy. Well. I don’t think I need to explain that one. Even when he was given hope that things could be different, that he could break the curse, he died only a few minutes later. I still hold on to the narrative that the watchers only allowed that to happen to give Jimmy false hope that things can be different only to rip the rug out from under him and drive home the point that he is in a losing battle because by the time of secret life Jimmy was one of the only few people who genuinely still believed he had a chance. Obviously this is not something that can fully be a reality until he goes out first next season so if he doesn’t that’s a little awkward but just work with me here

TLDR; here is reason number 672 on why I believe the bad boys are the most doomed motherfuckers on this server and their alliance is a modern tragedy

To me the gimmicky vibe did NOT work at all in Secret Life, but by now I am having a blast in Wild Life. It definitely feels very different though, so I understand why some people are put off, and I definitely miss the first four seasons' vibe (especially DL, smth about the vibe of that is so dear to me)

Anyway, my personal theory is these changes are due to:

1 people may want to watch more povs to know how each person reacts to the gimmick (which ironically worked in secret life where each person had a different individual objective, but I feel like the views have gone down this season bc some of the povs feel to similar to each other. I feel like the reason I am enjoying the season this much is actually bc I am only following 2 povs which are very different between them lmao)

2 okay this one is my hot weird take but hear me out: by reducing the social game and upping the gimmick they are trying to make that, when the fans dislike how the game is going, they direct the hate at the mechanics instead of to a single player. Which is a reaction to the Lim Life Finale Fiasco (the amount of people in that comment section telling Martyn to kill himself holy fuck, I feel like I was in the trenches). However the ccs didn t take into account the rampant mysoginy of internet fandoms which led to Gem in particular receiving a lot of hate during her last 3 episodes which even a year later makes me so angry omg

the hating mechanics point is definitely a good one, though if people are getting pissy enough at online video game series to send people hate they're gonna find a way regardless. the povs thing certainly i can see for SL but as you said i think it's having the opposite effect in WL, at least from what i've seen on reddit. CCs might not have anticipated that though.

I'm sitting in a restaurant and the idea of all the Traffic winners meeting right after winning their respective games just hit me.

Last!Scott being so happy to see Pearl again. DL!Pearl preferring to chew her arm off than be near Scott. 3L!Grian would be so conflicted. He would be horrified Pearl was dragged into these games even if DL!Pearl wasn't his Pearl, and he would probably want to side with her anger so he didn't push her away, but 3L!Scott was amicable with him, and he can't begrudge Last!Scott's need for companionship since he knows how being so utterly alone feels.

And then you have Lim!Martyn. If you thought 3L!Grian and 3L!Martyn were antagonistic toward each other, hooboy, imagine how bad it would be if it were 3L!Grian and Lim!Martyn. 3L!Grian has crushing regret for what he did to his partner in his game, and seeing Lim!Martyn feel no shame in actively harming those around him and feeling genuine joy for winning? Grian doesn't need to trap Martyn in a cactus ring to do the things he wants to do to him.

Not entirely sure how Pearl and Martyn would get along, but I'd like to think Martyn would attempt to gain her trust to betray it (it's what he knows best, after all), but Pearl has seen too much for it to happen again, and now it's Martyn's turn to feel the pain. Oh man, maybe being the last one left isn't all that it's cracked up to be...

Then, in a surprising turn of events, Last!Scott and Lim!Martyn would form a shaky bond, especially if it's after Martyn's failed attempt at backstabbing Pearl. LL!Scott might feel guilty for killing him to win in his world, and perhaps Lim!Martyn would feel a little guilt, too, seeing how this Scott is faring and being reminded of the good times he had with his Scott.

Regardless of how they feel, regardless of who attacks who first and who plays mediator, I'd like to imagine it's LL!Scott discovering evidence of the Watchers and going up to the others to ask if they know what that means and being woefully underprepared for the level of vitriol that would begin radiating off the group.

What did he walk into, and don't tell him he actually has to kill a bunch of gods, please. It's already been a rough week.

Listen. I like dinluke. I think mainstream dinluke is so fun. The jokes are fun and the fics are fun and I love fandom!! I love this sandbox that we all get to play in together! And yet sometimes I look at what people are saying and I go ‘wat are you talking abt…’. This isn’t bashing anyone to be clear!! This is abt how seemingly my interpretation of the ship is shared by no one. That is okay of course :) I do hope that I can convince you…

Cause when I think about it. I can’t picture them in a relationship. Or the traditional one with grand romantic gestures and attractions. In SW love always makes the fate of the universe, and that’s always true and will always be true. But these are two men that have managed to find balance within themselves. Not to say that their characters are finished, but to say that a Romance often comes with a revolution— changes in a character, large and small, but often also changes in situations, changes in goals, changes in their futures. Din and Luke already have that. They know their chosen paths, and exactly where they belong. It’s one of my greatest frustrations that Romance(s) for this pairing often lead to both characters changing their lives and their creeds and their beliefs for The Romance. Two people who shoulder their respective dying cultures? The Din Djarin that’s been hunted his whole life for his culture, the Luke Skywalker that spent three movies becoming what he is and ending completely ready to die for it? I can’t imagine that!! The removal of the helmet, the abandonment of aspects of the Jedi creed? I can’t imagine that!! And I can’t imagine them being attracted to each other like that either!!

It’s taken me this long to get here, but I had to get through how I felt about the ship to be able to talk about what I’ve felt about them. Luke Skywalker has no romantic pairing or displayed attraction to anyone in the ot, and that’s never treated like an issue! It’s wonderful! Din is asexual the vibes are there. To put it into words, he treats everyone with the same amount of devotion that he’d treat anything— that’s just him. That’s how he acts. He has a small moment with Omera, but that’s less about attraction to Omera and what Omera represents — a village and a community that can raise their kids in the sunlight, the peace that Din truly wants. D&L both have something they want greater than a partnership or Romance— a duty, a peaceful existence for their people. Anything that’s resonant with their characters will exist in between that.

So I can’t imagine a romance! The phrase I’ve been using recently has been ‘ghiblimance’. Because they do reflect each other as people. They would change from their interactions with one another. But not because of an attraction, but because of who they are, what they can teach to each other, what they value, and how their lives intertwine one way or another.

LITERALLY. “Not romantic not platonic but a secret third thing” is EXACTLY how I feel about it!! Similarly one of my favorite phrases describing it is ‘not romantic but not not romantic’!!! They don’t need attraction or The Romance to reflect each other as people.

I believe their paths will (“should”) keep intertwining. That’s where you get the life partners part of it from. For the things they can teach other and for themselves.

I’m sorry, I’m just not interested in them kissing. I’m interested in how they complement each other as people, and how they, their creeds, and their lives come together for themselves and for Grogu.

Scar who believes he can't be loved in the same way as others.

Scar who's aroace and can't love others the way they might want to be loved- he's found out with Grian, who loved him, but Scar couldn't love him back.

Scar who keeps ending up alone time and time again and thinks it's because he doesn't love people the same way they love.

Scar who thinks Grian stayed in 3rd life because he had no other choice, Scar who thinks he was alone in ll because he was unlovable, Scar who was alone in dl and unwanted because he couldn't love his soulmate the way he's "meant to" love him, Scar who finally found some love in lim life only to have that familial love ripped out from him in sl.

Scar in sl where he tries over and over again to do good and to be lovable but he keeps failing and no one wants to stay or be allies or friends.

Scar who wins completely alone, believing he's unlovable because he can't love the same way others do.

Scar in s10 surrounded by others who love him just the way he is. Him being proven every single day that he's loved and wanted and that it doesn't matter how he can and can't love.

Bodyshape Conversions I Should Have Posted a Long Time Ago, Part 1: Seasons Rockstar Outfits for Androgyny AM, Zenman's Fit Male, and Lifa's Male.

So I'm reorganizing my bodyshape outfits and realizing there are several conversions I made a while back that I haven't uploaded. I think I lost confidence in my meshes and felt they weren't worth sharing. Well, I've realized upon further reflection that some of them aren't so bad at all.

So here's the first in my series of outfits I should probably share: recolors of the AM Rockstar outfit from Seasons. The recolors I'm sharing come from Phobia, Pineapple Forest, and Goatskickin. If I counted correclty, that's 36 recolors! These have fat and preg morphs. The original outfit categories are preserved, and all bodyshape outfits have been enabled for elders.

There are two download versions: repository and standalone. The repositoried files DO include the original, required AM files. I've checked TOU's and this doesn't seem to be a problem, but if any of the original creators don't like me sharing these, let me know!

I have BSOK'd the Maxis AM and Androgyny AM files, but I did not BSOK Zenman's Fit Male or Lifa's Male, since AFAIK there are not yet BSOK icons for them. I actually do BSOK these shapes in my own game, but I use existing icons for shapes I don't personally use, so this is wouldn't be appropriate for other people's games.

I did technically make a conversion of this mesh for Melody9's Fat AM, but I noticed that LetoMills also did this, and probably did a better job, so check it out here!

i fucking love the fanart for pearl because of how diverse it is. there is moth pearl/just a guy pearl/alien pearl/cleaning lady/esmp pearl/ll!pearl/dl wolf pearl/lim life cat pearl/copper golem pearl/star pearl/star powered copper golem pearl/toh trapped collector pearl/ect ect. even within those designs, they are mixed and matched. there isn’t just one or two fannon designs that everyone agreed on, and i love it

People reblogging my post about winners losing on purpose are geniuses so here I am explaining my thoughts a lil more

So, lore wise, there's a couple different reasons winners might be throwing the match, all with different angst implications for you all to eat up

Winning sucks. The winners would rather die than go through it again (popular headcanon) which then means . . . Trying to stop their loved ones from winning, too. Grian refusing to team with Scar again for four seasons, even sabotaging him. Scott killing Pearl at the end of DL despite maybe being able to take the double win, after winning Last Life *for* her.

The headcanon that winners get their memories back, in which previous winners may try to "save" the rest of the server by letting them get their memories, too. Throw the fight so that others can join theirs. Scott letting Pearl take the decisive win. Pearl and Grian saying "we agree that BigB is gonna win this thing, right?" at the end of Lim Life.

And the meta option, in which the Watchers force the winners to take a lower place. The Watchers are the audience after all, and the audience cannot be bored. Lose and keep things interesting, or risk the games ending and permadeath for all. Martyn's lore streams, Scott blatantly saying he chooses different teams on purpose.

So uh. Pick your poison, fic writers.
